How New Roads Arrests Work
New Roads is the seat of Pointe Coupee Parish. The 2020 Census put its population at 4,549. That count is the largest of the three incorporated places here. Size does not tell you who booked a person, though. New Roads Police Department handles municipal policing. The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office and state or joint teams can also arrest people in or near the city.
Louisiana law sets a rule. An arrested person goes promptly to the nearest jail or police station for booking. That rule does not mean every New Roads arrest ends up at the Pointe Coupee Parish Detention Center. The official sources publish no universal transport policy. In practice, the detention center and the parish LA VINE roster are the shared starting points. Follow up with New Roads Police Department for direct confirmation.
Booking, online publication, and court disposition are separate stages. Intake covers identity checks and record creation. A jail-management entry can take time to appear on the public roster. The court record later shows whether a prosecutor filed, changed, or dropped charges. It also shows how the matter ended.
Where New Roads Arrests Appear
The official New Roads Police Department site posts no daily arrest log, blotter, booking-photo page, or mugshot gallery. The sources below each serve a different purpose. Official channels come first, since a news report or secondary list cannot confirm current custody.
| Channel | Scope and use | Photo status |
|---|---|---|
| New Roads Police Department | Official source for a city-created arrest or incident report; contact the agency. | No public booking-photo feed found. |
| Pointe Coupee LA VINE roster | Official current-custody starting point for the parish system. | No photo observed in the public interface. |
| Sheriff records process | Official request path for a Sheriff-held booking entry, summary, or releasable photo. | Photo must be requested and is not promised. |
| Pointe Coupee Banner | Secondary weekly parish police log supplied by the Sheriff. | Sampled log is text-only. |
| WBRZ Pointe Coupee coverage | Secondary event-driven news, not a complete roster. | Images vary by story and source. |
The weekly newspaper names New Roads when a reported event falls inside its parish-wide window, though it does not promise full city coverage. WBRZ stories add context on selected incidents. Treat neither as a list of every arrest.
Note: Current custody, a city police report, and a weekly newspaper entry answer three different questions.
Find Someone Arrested in New Roads
Start with what you know. Gather the person's full legal name, an approximate arrest date, where the arrest happened, and the likely agency. Those details cut down false matches and help an office find the right record. Remember that the parish roster is live custody only. It is not a same-day export or a complete history.
- Check the official Pointe Coupee Parish LA VINE roster and use the alphabet filter or full name.
- Compare the available date of birth, race, gender, and arrest date. Never rely on a name alone.
- If the arrest is fresh, call New Roads Police Department to confirm whether it made the arrest and where the person was taken.
- Call Pointe Coupee Parish Detention Center when parish custody is likely but the roster has not yet updated.
- Request the city arrest report from the police department or the booking record from the Sheriff, based on which office created it.
The state describes the LA VINE jail-management feed as updating every 30 minutes. That is system cadence alone. It is not a fixed promise for one New Roads arrest. Intake, verification, classification, and data entry all happen before publication. Publication comes after them. A person may also be released or moved before you search. For county roster fields, booking-photo policy, and records channels, use the Pointe Coupee Parish recent arrests hub. It separates current custody from released and state-sentenced records.
New Roads Arrest Records
The official New Roads Police Department page lists 211 W. Main Street, New Roads, LA 70760, P.O. Box 280, and (225) 638-5360. It describes municipal police services. But it posts no public arrest log or city records form. Ask the department which current process applies before sending a request.

A useful request names the person first. Add the approximate date and time, the location, and the type of record sought. Ask for the city-created incident report or arrest report. Want a booking photo? Ask whether New Roads PD created or holds it. Ask whether it is releasable. The city page publishes no photo fee or response time. Assume nothing there. The city police page shows the department's official contact. It shows no linked public arrest feed.
The department page supports direct agency routing. It makes no claim that the city posts names, charges, or booking photographs online.
Parish Booking Records from New Roads
Booking records in New Roads sit with the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office. Ask through its public-records form. The phone line is (225) 638-5433. Requests can go by mail to P.O. Box 248, New Roads, LA 70760, in person at the Civil Division on Court Street, or by fax at (225) 638-5420. Email works too, at PublicRecords@pcpso.org.
Be specific about what you want. Name the person, the approximate booking date and time, the arresting agency, and a booking number if you have one. List each item separately. That means the booking entry, the booking-information summary, charges as booked, bond details if kept, and the booking photograph. If the custodian withholds anything, ask which legal authority supports that call.
The Sheriff's own form spells out delivery and fees. Inspection, pickup, mail, and fax are the options for responses of 20 pages or fewer, and the form notes that records are not emailed back for security reasons. Copies run $1 per page. A CD or USB holding audio or video costs $10. Certification adds $5. An incident or accident report costs $10. Don't send payment up front; the form says to wait. No separate mugshot price or fixed turnaround is listed.
One arrest can leave a paper trail in several offices. A New Roads PD incident report is not the parish jail booking entry, and the live roster is neither document in full.
New Roads Arrest News
The Pointe Coupee Banner police log runs weekly in print. One issue spanned October 29 through November 4. The Sheriff's Office supplied the names, ages, and addresses. It also provided the charges and bond details for each arrest. It is text on a page. There is no New Roads live feed here. It is just a dated list of arrests you can sit and read.
For breaking news, the WBRZ Pointe Coupee tag covers New Roads when a story breaks. Reports there tend to follow investigations or multiagency operations. Coverage is selective by nature. A person arrested in a low-profile case may never make the tag at all. The images are usually scene shots, video stills, or pictures handed over by an agency. That kind of photo is not a booking photo from the New Roads jail.
Note: The WBRZ parish news page shows event-driven reporting, not a full city arrest roster.
Use news pages for color, not for the record itself. Check anything against the police, Sheriff, jail, and court sources. Aggregator sites can run stale or mismatched. RecentlyBooked does have a Pointe Coupee page. But the parish supplies no mugshots or charge details there. No New Roads-only aggregator section exists.
New Roads Parish-Seat Record Paths
New Roads packs several record offices into one small parish seat. City police, the Sheriff, the detention system, the courthouse, and the Clerk all sit close together. Yet each holds something different. One arrest can involve three of them. A person may be arrested by one agency. They may be booked by another and end up in the 18th Judicial District Court.
ClerkNet and the Pointe Coupee Clerk of Court pick up the story after filing. A disposition is what a court finally decides, like a dismissal, plea, acquittal, or sentence. That outcome matters more than the charge printed at booking. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, and other protected material stays off limits.
Rosters shift. An entry can disappear after a release or transfer. That alone is not expungement. An old arrest date can also linger while custody continues. For a same-day answer, the Pointe Coupee Parish 24 Hour Arrests process explains the fallback. It shows why the live roster is official when no city feed exists.
Note: Pin down the arresting agency first. Then ask each custodian only for the record it truly holds.
